Two way cycling in one way streets in Brighton's North Laine

We can now legally cycle though many streets in North Laine which were previously one-way! Traffic orders exempt cyclists from one way restrictions in Trafalgar Street, Gloucester Road, Gloucester Street, Vine Street, Robert Street, Kensington Street, Church Street, Foundry Street, Kemp Street, Kensington Place, Over Street, Queen’s Gardens, and Tidy Street. New cycling signs and road markings are being put in place.

Many of these streets became one-ways to prevent rat running by cars. Bricycles has campaigned for many years for an end to one way streets in North Laine and elsewhere. Today we are celebrating a milestone of success. We applaud the Council and particularly Councillor Ian Davey, Chair of the Transport Committee on this enlightened decision.
